Robert Murat is an on-going investigation concerning the disappearance of a young British girl from Portugal this week. He accepted a six figure libel damages from several newspapers concerning allegations that he was personally involved in her abduction.
Robert Murat, a property consultant who lives near the holiday apartment where Madeleine McCann vanished, accepted 600,000 pounds from 11 national newspapers over the claims, his lawyer said. The 34-year-old was named a formal suspect by Portuguese police probing her disappearance but said he was innocent. Officers closed their investigation at the start of this month without charging anyone.
