Government Working To Make Harsher Restrictions On English Law For Truckers

Federal law requires that someone who has a commercial drivers license must be able to speak English so that they are able to converse with police. Those unable to comply with this law can face a $500 fine. Last year police issued 25,230 tickets around the nation. This year the federal government is trying to make sure that this law is improved upon due to important safety reasons.

FBI Agents Investigated For Harsh Interrogation Tactics

FBI agents that were assigned to interview important terrorism suspects used harsh and allegedly illegal interrogation tactics for almost two years before the abuse on the prisoners at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison become known to the public in 2004.

Shortly after the 2002 captures of Abu Zubaydah and Ramzi Binalshibh, both detained as alleged principal planners in the Sept. 11 attacks, FBI agents passed on their objections to the highest levels of the Justice Department. FBI Director Robert Mueller advised agents not to participate in coercive interrogations, the report said.

Fight Breaks Out In Sadr City After Ceasefire Was Signed

11 people have been killed and 20 injured after a fight broke out between U.S. troops and militiamen in Baghdad’s Sadr City. The fight broke out hours after the ceasefire deal had been signed between Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr and the Iraqi government.

The fight began while the U.S. military was finishing the building of the barrier that was designed by the military in order to keep out members of the Mehdi Army from the southern area of Sadr City.
