Today on November 4th history was made and it is something that we and our children will be talking about for years to come. Barack Obama was elected as the next President of the United States making him the first black President to run for office. He won by a landslide against Senator John McCain.
His first words when he won was to his supporters and his description was accurate “Change has come!” Obama is the son of a black father from Kenya and a white mother from Kansas. He fought honorably again McCain and his hard work has paid off.
The Democrats are reveling in their new victory and when January rolls around they will control both the Congress and the White House for the first time since 1994.
Obama made his first speech after being elected and spoke of the challenges ahead. “The greatest of a lifetime,” he said, two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century.”
