You also don’t want to look so much like a tourist because that makes you an open target for someone to try to take advantage and mug you. However, let it be known that not all tourists are helpless.
It was reported ealier this week that an American senior citizen killed an alleged mugger with his own two hands. While he was fending his attacker off, his traveling companions aboard a tour bus fended off two other assailants in the Atlantic coast city of Limon, police said.
This 70 year old retiree of the U.S. military managed to place Warner Segura, his attacker, in a head lock and then broke his clavical. Luis Hernandez, the police cheif of Limon, stated that the 20 year old attacker, with the help of two other men, held up their tour bus armed with a knife and a gun. Segura was killed from asphyxiation.
The two other accomplices fled the bus when the 12 senior citizens started defending themselves during the attack. Afterward, the tourists drove Segura to the Red Cross where he was declared dead. The Red Cross also treated one of the tourists for an anxiety attack, Hernandez said.
The tourists left on their Carnival cruise ship after the incident and Hernandez said authorities do not plan to press any charges against them because they were only defending themselves from the attackers. Hernandez said Segura had previous charges against him for assaults.
