Archeologists Discover Portuguese Shipwreck

Archaeologists are working fast to salvage a fortune full of coins and antiques that were discovered from a 500 year old Portuguese shipwreck that was found off the southern coast of Namibia. This discovery is very important - but it is located in a restricted diamond mining area. It is costing them a lot of money in sea-walling - which will cease October 10th. Now crews are rushing to hurry up their project and to unload what they can before it is too late.

Student Suspended For Wearing Anti-Obama Shirt

A student in elementary school in Denver was suspended from school after he came to school wearing a t-shirt that showed his distaste for Senator Barack Obama. Locals say that the school located in Aurora, Colorado has been encouraging their students to support their country by dressing patriotically.

Daxx Dalton felt like showing his true beliefs by wearing a shirt that said “Obama A Terrorist’s Best Friend”. School officials were not pleased with the shirt and asked him to change out of it, to turn the shirt inside out, or to be suspended. He chose suspension.

Crew In Plane Crash Died Of Burns And Smoke Inhalation

Victims of the Learjet crash in South Carolina died from burns caused by the impact. The plane’s pilot Sarah Lemmon and co-pilot James Bland died within a few minutes of the crash from burns and smoke inhalation. Chris Baker and Charles Still died from the impact of the crash.

PCC Campuses Close Down For Gun Threat

Polk Community College closed all of its campuses Monday after authorities received a death threat. The police suspect that 39 year old Randy M. Thurston - a student from Lakeland - had intentions to shoot one of the students on campus. He was taken into custody after officials had released a statewide alert for Thurston. Authorities are now keeping him locked up under the state’s Baker Act. This allows the police to detain anyone they believe to be a threat to themselves or to other people.

Victims Of Bus Crash Push For Better Safety Regulations

Yen-Chi Li was one of hundreds of victims who lost her home during the flooding caused by Hurricane Ike in Texas - but that wasn’t the only tragedy that faced her. A month before she lost her mother in a bus crash in North Texas. 16 others were also lost in the accident. Now she is in Washington D.C. lobbying for a law that will keep this from happening to anyone else.

Surfer Pulls Shark Off Himself

A surfer was attacked by a shark and managed to free his leg by prying the shark’s mouth open with his fingers. The shark let go and swam away with little interest. The injured surfer believes that the shark was not pleased with the taste of his leg.

Army Admits To Failures Concerning Pregnant Soldiers’ Disappearance

The Army is taking responsibility for the disappearance of a pregnant soldier. Her body was discovered at an off-base motel over the summer. The Army stated that the soldier’s unit at Fort Bragg did not follow proper procedures when it came to keeping track of the soldiers that are new to the base.

Hurricane Ike Forces Texas Residents To Seek Cover

The Southeast Texas Gulf Coast has been placed on a hurricane warning to prepare for Ike. Because of this warning authorities have ordered the residents in the area to leave the coastal city of Galveston.

Forecasters issued the warning Thursday morning for a roughly 500-mile stretch from the Louisiana state line to near Corpus Cristi. The warning means hurricane conditions could reach the coast by late Friday. Galveston followed mandatory evacuation orders in several coastal counties and low-lying areas near Houston by expanding an evacuation order from part to all of the city.

Wal-Mart Keeps Obesity At Bay

Doctors and researchers have spent many years now trying to explain the rise on obesity and have come up blank. They are unable to find an explanation that will give people an excuse to their behavior and eating habits. Many of these people who have become obese turn to the fast food restaurant chains and point the finger at them and their greasy high calorie foods. One place they cannot blame is Wally World!

KFC Recipe Comes Out Of Hiding

One of the biggest kept secrets in the restaurant business is coming out from hiding. Colonel Harland Sander’s recipe for his famous Kentucky Fried Chicken was pulled from the safe at the corporate office for KFC. This is the first time that the handwritten recipe has been removed from hiding in decades.
