Robber Hides Out In Restaurant

Los Angeles has seen some excitement in its time – but today is an exception. The L.A. police surrounded a restaurant on the corner of Virgil Avenue and Sunset Boulevard after a suspected armed robber locked himself in their during the morning hours.

Police received a call at 7 a.m. and were informed that the suspect was trying to rob the Acapulco Mexican Restaurant y Cantina. They went into action and arrived on the scene creating a perimeter around the restaurant. SWAT officers were responding and arriving shortly after.

President Bush Commemorates Fallen Soldiers

President Bush decided to celebrates Memorial Day by paying tribute to the American soldiers who have lost their lives in order to defend this country. Bush traveled to Arlington National Cemetery right outside of Washington where 300,000 of the U.S. armed forces are buried and placed a wreath on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Shortly thereafter, under clear blue skies, the president said that the need to defend liberty is eternal, and the United States has been blessed to have citizens willing to answer the call to arms.

Bride And Groom Shot During Wedding Ceremony

A groom and bride were shot during their outside wedding by a complete stranger. According to reports the angry men first interrupted the wedding, left, and then came back a few minutes later and opened fire on them. Police are unsure as to why he opened fire.

Certain family members stated that the wounded couple was Mike Beavers and Melissa Smith. The outdoor was in a park near a swimming area in Pope County, Arkansas when Patrick Paul Duvall were in an argument with the couple after the ceremony had already begun.

Dalai Lama Hopes For Positive Change In China

BBC interviewed the Dalai Lama this week where he told them that he believed that China is changing in a positive way. He believes that because of the earthquake in Sichuan province the people are banding together and growing more closer.

Tibet’s spiritual leader said he wanted a “middle way” of autonomy, despite calls for independence among Tibetans. But he warned of growing frustration if there was “no improvement” in Tibet. Speaking during a 10-day visit to London the Dalai Lama said he was “quite optimistic” about the future. China was changing through “wider contact with outside world,” he said.

American Airlines Charges Passengers For First Checked Bag

Those of you who are planning on flying to your favorite destination this summer need to be prepared to bring extra money for souvenirs, food, and of course all of that extra baggage that you are going to hold all of those souvenirs in.

American Airlines has changed their policies and starting next month they will be charging passenger $15 to check on a bag. Many other airlines including AA have also stated that it will cost you $25 to check on your second bag.

ID-Protection Service Didn’t Work

For two years Todd Davis has challenged people to steal his identity by displaying and giving out his Social Security number in the ads that he has for the fraud prevention company – LifeLock. What Davis promised doesn’t seem to work at all and in fact it never did.

Several customers are suing Davis because the company did not protect them like it said it would. In fact it couldn’t even protect his own personal information.

Lou Pearlman - Creator Of N’Sync - Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison

The creator of N’Sync and the Backstreet Boys – Lou Pearlman – has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for scamming hundreds if not thousands of investors out of their life savings. The boy band manager received the maximum sentence and was reported to have stolen close to $300 million from banks and investors since the early ‘80’s.

FBI Agents Investigated For Harsh Interrogation Tactics

FBI agents that were assigned to interview important terrorism suspects used harsh and allegedly illegal interrogation tactics for almost two years before the abuse on the prisoners at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison become known to the public in 2004.

Shortly after the 2002 captures of Abu Zubaydah and Ramzi Binalshibh, both detained as alleged principal planners in the Sept. 11 attacks, FBI agents passed on their objections to the highest levels of the Justice Department. FBI Director Robert Mueller advised agents not to participate in coercive interrogations, the report said.

4 Police Officers Fired Over Videotaped Beatings

Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey stated today that he will be firing the four police officers that were caught on tape beating three suspects who were linked to a triple shooting. There are also three other officers who will be suspended and at least one officer who is being demoted.
