An anonymous government official reported this week that Alphonso Jackson will be resigning from his position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Jackson has been placed under criminal investigation because of the housing crisis that is affecting the nation’s credit markets. This crisis is pushing the nation into a major recession.

For one hour cities all across the world participated in ‘Earth Hour’. During this hour businesses and residents were going to turn off all of their lights and electrical instruments in order to conserve power and make a statement to show everyone the threat of the climate change.
The environmental group WWF urged governments, businesses and households to turn back to candle power for at least 60 minutes starting at 8 p.m. wherever they were.

A woman from Texas is upset about the way that she was treated by TSA as she was boarding a plane this week. She stated that they forced her to remove her nipple rings with a pair of pliers before allowing her to board her plane. “I wouldn’t wish this experience upon anyone,” Mandi Hamlin said during a news conference. “My experience with TSA was a nightmare I had to endure. No one deserves to be treated this way.”

People were shocked when the Advocate – a gay rights magazine – reported that a transgender man in Oregon is five months pregnant. The article came with a few pictures of pregnant Thomas Beatie. “Our situation sparks legal, political and social unknowns,” wrote Beatie, who’s from Bend, Ore.

American Airlines canceled 200 flights this week because they had to inspect the wiring on the Boeing Co. MD-80s. American Airlines stated that they had already inspected the wiring earlier – but federal regulators had some doubts when they were performing their maintenance audit.
Two of American’s eight flights today from Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport were canceled; two of the airline’s seven arriving flights were also canceled. The cancellations represent about 9 percent of American’s daily flights. American is checking whether a bundle of wires was installed and secured according to a Federal Aviation Administration directive, American spokesman Tim Wagner said in an e-mailed statement.

Four months ago – Zach Dunlap was laying in a hospital were doctors had declared him as brain dead and were going to remove his organs for transplant after he was injured in a car crash. His family was told by doctors that there was no hope for him and as they were saying their goodbyes a miracle happened – he moved his hand and foot.

One of the two popular royalist groups has been looking for more power and now they have taken over the first of the parliamentary elections that was being held in the Himalayan kingdom. The Bhutan Peace and Prosperity Party was able to grab 44 out of 47 seats in the new parliament stated the Election Commisioner – Kunzang Wangdi. The People’s Democratic Party won the remaining three seats.

A French former schoolteacher – Chantal Sebire – had an incurable tumor died this week. Doctors examined her and have come to the conclusion that she did not die of natural causes. The mother of three was in court before she died pleading with the judge to be euthanized by the doctors. Her request was rejected.
